November 2026: how real are the deals, and where is it cheaper
How many shop promotions are real discounts, what the same basket of staples costs in different shops, and what the chains themselves put in their low-price baskets. Based on Cenu Depo's price data, updated every night.
How many promotions are real?
We compare every promotion with the lowest price in the same shop in the 30 days before it began. EU rules set the same yardstick for price reduction claims.
The bar's colours
- Real discount
- at least 5% below the lowest price of the 30 days before the promotion
- Good price
- not a real discount, but at least 5% cheaper than usual
- Small
- lower, but by less than 5%
- Usual price
- it was just as cheap recently
The discount in figures
- Claimed
- the discount the shop states for a typical promotion (median)
- Actual
- how far the same promotion is below the lowest price of the 30 days before it
- Too few checked promotions (fewer than 100) to compare: Depo, Mego, Lidl, Gemoss and Abrands.
- 15,018 promotions could not be checked (too little price history) and are not counted.

Each cell: the shop's cheapest suitable product and its price per unit (with a card, if there is one). The lowest price of each row is green.
The shops' low-price baskets

How we count
How we judge promotions
- Real discount
- The promotion price is at least 5% below the lowest price in the same shop in the 30 days before the promotion began.
- Good price
- Not a real discount, but the promotion price is at least 5% below the price that held for most of those 30 days. Judged since 2 November 2026; we re-judged the October and November promotions by the same rule.
- Small
- The promotion price is below the lowest price of those 30 days, but by less than 5%.
- Usual price
- The rest: it was just as cheap in those 30 days, or this price has held for 30 days or more, such as a standing card price.
If the history is incomplete, we leave the promotion out. We count each promotion once a month, with the verdict it had when we first saw it. Alcohol is not included.
Prices every night
We collect them from the shops' websites and online stores. Loyalty card prices are counted separately.
Basket of staples
For each product we take the shop's cheapest suitable item with a clear pack size. We leave out fresh vegetables, fruit, meat and fish: they are often sold by weight, and not every shop has a comparable pack.
Low-price basket products
We compare them with the cheapest similar product in the same shop, without a card, by price per unit. We show the difference when the product we found is at least 3% cheaper.
